Are you passionate about music? Do you want to enhance your performance abilities and connect with others in a supportive environment? Disability Entertainment Australia Inc. (DEAI), a prominent Brisbane-based disabilities music company, is thrilled to announce its groundbreaking workshop series designed specifically for individuals with disabilities and neurodiverse conditions.
This six-part workshop series (run over 12 weeks) aims to equip participants with fundamental/essential live performance music skills, knowledge and confidence under the guidance of industry professionals.
Workshop dates: Sept. 17, Oct. 1 & 29, Nov.12 & 26, Dec 10.
WORKSHOP DETAILS
The program provides a welcoming and inclusive setting for individuals to delve into popular music/songs and develop their skills at their own pace in a comfortable environment.
DEAI provides mentorships for all singers and musicians. Aspiring percussionists are also encouraged to bring their favourite tambourines, shakers and any other percussive instrument they may find in their kitchen.
These unique workshops emphasise nurturing the inner performer within each participant through a blend of fun music training exercises and practical live-stage performances with DEAI band: SPEKTRUM.
Workshop modules enhance musical abilities and foster social interactions, communication skills, teamwork dynamics, spatial awareness, and physical coordination. Each of the six modules is customised to align with the interests and passions of the participants.

THE WORKSHOP TEAM
Mick Lissemore – Master of Ceremonies (DEAI co-founder); Mick is a highly qualified professional in disability support. Based in Logan, he currently works with multiple Disability Support Organizations in Brisbane.
Warren Thomas – Singer/Guitarist (DEAI co-founder); is a prominent musician/performer based in Logan and is well known for his national work as a singer, songwriter, musician/performer. He Is a multi-skilled artist with high-functioning autism and has accumulated three decades of experience in performing and touring across Australia.
Stephan De-wit – Guitarist/Keyboards (DEAI co-founder); is an international award-winning music producer based in Logan.
Cathy Spaulding – Singer (DEAI Committee Member); is a versatile, professional singer based in Brisbane, she has over 20 years of experience as a solo, duo and band performer. Cathy is highly respected throughout South-East Qld and has worked with numerous high-profile acts as a lead and backing vocalist.
WORKSHOP COMPLETION (Series 1)
A concert featuring the participants with the SPEKTRUM Band will be held for friends and family to observe and commemorate the advancements achieved by participants in refining their performance and social abilities. A certificate of workshop completion will also be delivered to the participants.
