Logan Arts – connecting creative Logan
RIVERSCOPE: workshop 1: Yarning Circle, Connection and Reflection

Riverscope, is a contemporary, place-based multidisciplinary arts project led by artist Kuweni Dias Mendis, that explores themes of belonging, migrant identity, and regeneration. As part of the project, Kuweni will engage with the Logan community from April to July during her residency at the Kingston Butter Factory.
Participants of the workshop will have the opportunity to share their own experiences and connect with others in the community. Through facilitated conversation with Kuweni and a local Indigenous Elder participants will explore the evolving story of the Logan River.
Workshop Activities:
• Yarning Circle: Gathering with a local Indigenous Elder to deeply listen and share in the story of Logan’s landscape, waterway, and spirit of place.
• Research Reflection: Writing and discussing collective research findings through brief, accessible prompts.
• Story of Place & Potential: Exploring what it means to know a place’s deeper potential and story.
• Regenerative Mapping: Visually mapping all research responses on a communal wall under two themes: “Story of Place” and “Potential of Place.”
• Creative Integration: Discussing how these insights and mappings can inform and inspire the collaborative artwork that will be developed over the course of the residency.
